UAI 2025 will be in Hotel Othon Palace, in Copacabana. They offer special rates for UAI attendees by using the promotional code UAI2025 when booking directly at their website.
Copacabana is the neighborhood with most hotels and lodging options in Rio, so there are plenty of other options, from hostels to fancy hotels to Airbnb. It is best to stay close to the beach and towards Forte de Copacabana (near Fairmont Hotel). You can also stay at Ipanema or Leblon which are a bit more upscale and very safe neighborhoods. There is a metro line connecting these three neighborhoods, and Hotel Othon Palace is closest (600m) to the Cantagalo metro station.
Rio de Janeiro has two airports: the international airport Tom Jobim/Galeão (GIG) and the local airport Santos Dumont (SDU). In both cases, the fastest and safest way of going from the airport to your hotel is by regular yellow taxi (táxi comum). They offer a fixed prepaid price for trips to different neighborhoods and you can prepay at the arrival area. A prepaid trip from GIG to Copacabana costs R$ 110. Here is a picture of their desk at GIG:
The poster format is explained here: https://www.auai.org/uai2025/poster_instructions
UAI2025 does not offer printing services for posters. However, we have an agreement with Menon Gráfica Digital, a local print shop. Here are the instructions to print your poster with them (no need to pick up):
Menon Gráfica Digital is not related to the organisation of UAI, and no responsibility related with this service is taken by UAI.
Fogo de chão, Bibi sucos, Sova, etc. More on this later.
Rio is a very large city with over 6 million people and hundreds of neighborhoods with various levels of charm and safety. The city is divided into zones and Zona Sul (South Zone) concentrates most of the touristic attractions and nicest and safest neighborhoods, such as Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon. Another interesting zone is Centro where the city started and old churches are concentrated, but also holds modern museums (like “Centro Cultural do Banco do Brasil” and “Museu do Amanhã”) and the bohemic district of Lapa. The logo of UAI 2025 is “Escadaria Selaron” which has become a major tourist attraction in the city (in Lapa). A metro line runs through Zona Sul and Centro and is very safe and efficient. You can also take a yellow cab in the streets or call for an Uber which are not expensive and quite abundant.
